Monday: Silent reading. Work on Time for Kids articles and reading skills questions.
Tuesday:Silent reading. Work on Time for Kids articles and reading skills questions.
Wednesday:Silent reading. Begin Colonial Heroines reading and graphic organizer.
Thursday:Silent reading. Continue Colonial Heroines reading and graphic organizer.
Friday: No classes.

Essential learning points: Discuss and interpret the reasons for colonists coming to the New World.
DUE notes:
Monday: Read 114-118. Complete the back of chapter 6 assignment.
Tuesday: Read the dissenters article and discuss. Students completed 6 questions about the article.
Wednesday: Complete the 13 colonies map.
Thursday: The colonies map is due. Video clips of life in the colonies.
Friday:Parent conferences no classes.

1C: Comprehend a broad range of reading.
State goal #2: Read and understand literature representative of various societies, era, and ideas.
State goal #3: Write to communicate for a variety of purposes.
State goal #4: Listen and speak effectively in a variety of situations.
State goal #5: Use language arts to acquire, assess, and communicate information.

Monday:Spelling pretest #171. T-F quiz "Song of the Trees."
Tuesday: "Song of the Trees" Selection test/paragraph started in class. Due Wed.
Wednesday: Try it Out/Vocab p. 44.
Thursday: Spelling #171. Journal #17: Write about something you wanted very much but didn't get. How did you feel then? How do you feel about it now?
Friday: No school.
