Science Per. 4 Poems:
For period: Holiday 2007Poem 1: UMS Night Before Holiday :
‘Twas two days before holiday,
And all through the class,
Not a student was stirring
But the usual lad and lass.
Class objectives were shown
with color and care,
With hopes that your good grades
Soon would be there!
When up from the classroom
A wild hurricane just flew,
Defiant behaviors
From the usual few.
The students some listened,
Some ignored all in sight,
To pass notes with peers
Or talk out in spite.
Consider Respect,
And Citizenship too,
Many were displaying,
But alas for the few!
When what to my wondering
Eyes should appear:
Mrs. Bantz, Mr. Morgan,
And, Ms. Clinton, too.
They set right to work
In this curious class
To bring serenity
To each lad and lass.
The troubles you find
Are opportunities of mine.
Your knowledge should be expanding
In each teaching time.
On Hannah, on Kiara,
On Johnathon, too,
On Chad, on Katie,
To name just a few.
Fly away, fly away,
Fly away all.
Surpass every standard!
Don’t let yourself stall.
And with feeling I exclaim,
As you leave my purview:
“Happy Holidays to ALL,
Happy New Year to YOU !”
Poem Deux: Teacher's Ballad:
I’d like to take a walk with you
But I cannot lift your feet.
I’ll show new worlds and details too
Where past minds with learners meet.
You must take your own true step
To reach this promised land.
For I can only do so much,
And maybe lead your hand.
To share my faith that you’ll succeed
while other students fail.
The difference you see is clear,
You’re driving in a nail.
The time is short, your days are close
Your learning may really sail,
If only you would walk with me
Through mist, and clouds, and veil.
To learning lands, and mighty worlds,
You surely can impress.
Your Effort truly could prevail
where swords meet no success.
To sit and squander will just not do.
To lay in wait leads learning away from you.
To idly waste your talents true,
This really, really will not do!
Missed assignments are your Everest;
You watch the time go by.
While others really try their best,
You sit and don’t apply.
You may lean on crutches to prevail
By making excuses without fail,
To point at others rather than you
This really, really will not do!
I weep for you, ‘cause I see you fail.
I weep and I do cry.
When you fail to try to do your best,
Opportunities pass you by.
You will grow to be your own
You will live with yourself and yours
Yes, I do pray and apply this class,
As a foundation for your SUCCESS.
Fastest, not. Surest, no.
The mantle simply rests,
Apart, from those who don’t apply,
With those who DO their BEST!
